About the IVSC Investor Forum

The IVSC Investor Forum brings together valuation leaders from many of the world’s largest and most influential investors. Established in 2023, the Forum provides a collaborative platform for discussing key trends and challenges in valuation—focusing particularly on the needs of institutional investors and the standards that underpin sound valuation practices.

With member organisations collectively managing more than USD $20 trillion in assets under management (AUM), the Forum represents an important voice in the evolving global dialogue on valuation standards. Members engage in regular discussions to share perspectives on market developments, valuation methodologies, and the practical implications of valuations within their organisations. These insights help to inform IVSC’s work, ensuring that the International Valuation Standards (IVS) continue to meet the needs of the global investment community.

The Forum also fosters greater alignment between investors and the valuation profession, promoting mutual understanding and consistency across sectors and markets. As a neutral and independent platform, the IVSC enables open, constructive dialogue and encourages collaboration that transcends geography and asset class.

The success of the Investor Forum has inspired the development of similar initiatives, including those focused on private equity, venture capital, and investment banking, further strengthening the connection between valuation standards and capital markets.

Why the Valuation Function Matters in Investment

Valuation lies at the heart of the investment process, guiding decision-making, risk management, and regulatory compliance. Accurate valuations underpin transparency, support efficient capital allocation, and sustain investor confidence across all asset classes.

Beyond financial reporting, valuations inform strategic decisions, from deal structuring and performance measurement to portfolio rebalancing. In less liquid markets, where price discovery is limited, robust valuation practices are essential for fair value assessment and risk mitigation.

As markets evolve, so too do valuation challenges. Emerging asset classes, regulatory developments, and new technologies demand a strong valuation function grounded in global best practices. Consistent and credible valuations strengthen trust, comparability, and financial stability across the investment landscape.

The IVSC Investor Forum is a distinguished community of valuation experts with extensive institutional knowledge across the global pension plan and sovereign wealth fund sectors. The global reach and unique perspectives of participants provide a dynamic platform for sharing experiences, discussing emerging valuation topics, and exchanging best practices and critical insights.
