After four years with the IVSC, Nicolas Konialidis will step down from his role as IVSC Asia and Business Valuation Director this October. The IVSC is grateful for all he has contributed as he returns to private practice.
Nicolas has played a key role in establishing the IVSC's presence across Asia-Pacific, building on the launch of the organisation's Singapore office in 2022. During this time, the adoption of International Valuation Standards (IVS) has continued to grow across the region, and the IVSC has continued to make progress in developing and promoting international valuation standards and professionalism, supported by close working relationships with stakeholder communities throughout Asia.
Nicolas also supported the IVSC Business Valuation Board, contributing to the drafting of the current edition of IVS and the forthcoming edition, which will be published in January 2027 and take effect in January 2028, and to the development of the IVSC's Perspectives Papers on intangible assets, data, intellectual property and artificial intelligence. He also helped the Board engage with stakeholder groups in different parts of the world.
Welcoming Elaine Young
The IVSC welcomes Elaine Young, who joins as Business Valuation Director on secondment from Kroll, where she is a director in the firm's Office of Professional Practice.
Elaine brings more than 20 years of experience across all areas of business valuation, with particular depth in the valuation of intangible assets, including patents, software, customer relationships, licence agreements and trademarks. In her role at Kroll, she provides firm-wide technical guidance on valuation and financial reporting matters such as business combinations, intangible assets, and goodwill and asset impairment. She has also served as a member of The Appraisal Foundation's Business Valuation Resource Panel.
Elaine joins at an important moment for the Business Valuation Board: as the new standards roll out and become embedded in the marketplace; as the valuation of intangibles and intellectual property continues to command significant attention among market participants and across the global valuation community; and as the IVSC advances projects aligned with its Agenda Consultation. Her arrival also comes shortly before the next in-person meetings of the IVSC's standards boards at the AGM in Cologne this November.
A new Asia-Pacific Director
The IVSC is also recruiting an Asia-Pacific Director, based in Singapore and reporting to the Chief Executive. The role will lead the IVSC's engagement across the region with investors, regulators, development banks, valuation professional organisations, accountancy bodies and other stakeholders, and will help grow the IVSC's membership and support the adoption of IVS. It would suit a senior professional, such as a current Director or former Partner, who is motivated by working in the public interest.
A word from the Chief Executive
“I want to thank Nicolas for all he has given to the IVSC. His work has helped shape both our presence across Asia-Pacific and the development of the standards, and we wish him every success. I am equally delighted to welcome Elaine to the IVSC. Her experience in business valuation, and in particular her work on intangible assets and intellectual property, will be of real value to the Business Valuation Board at an important stage in the development of the standards. I would also like to thank Kroll for making Elaine's expertise available to us. The IVSC is always grateful for the opportunity to draw on leading expertise from across the profession in pursuit of its public interest mission, and Elaine's secondment is a welcome example of the profession supporting the work of the standard-setter.”
