The International Valuation Standards Council today announces that it has appointed Nick Talbot as CEO.
Nick was previously interim CEO of the IVSC on a part-time basis from June 2015 to March 2016. Prior to that Nick spent 13 years in a variety of international, senior management roles at accountancy firms Ernst & Young and KPMG before joining The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as a Director four years ago. At RICS, Nick worked on a variety of projects internationally including advising different markets on how to embed IVS and develop valuation professionalism to underpin investor confidence.
During his tenure as interim CEO, Nick produced a renewed strategy for IVSC and increased sponsorship and members. The organisation has been implementing the changes within the strategy since the start of 2016.
Nick Talbot said: “The IVSC has made great strides in the last few months, particularly with issuing Exposure Drafts for International Professional Standards and updated International Valuation Standards. Valuation is a fundamental lynch-pin to investor confidence and financial stability and it is more important than ever that we achieve global quality and consistency in this key area.”
My main priorities will be to work with the Boards and stakeholders, in particular all of the Valuation Professional Organisations to create high quality and internationally accepted standards, and to help further the use of these standards globally by qualified professionals to underpin investor confidence.”
I am excited to be helping Sir David and the Trustees position the IVSC for further success in the future.”
Sir David Tweedie, Chairman of the IVSC, said: “We are delighted with Nick’s appointment. During his time as our interim CEO, he achieved notable success in creating and gaining approval of the IVSC’s new strategy.
We are very confident in Nick’s ability to drive forward the IVSC in its mission to develop high quality international valuation standards which underpin consistency, transparency and confidence in valuations across the world. His energy and knowledge of the valuation profession will be invaluable to us.”
Away from work, Nick is a dedicated fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. Earlier in 2016, he became the first person with Cystic Fibrosis to successfully summit Everest which has so far raised close to £100,000 for the Trust.
